Well, it looks like I jumped the gun on that last announcement! ^^; We moved again, so Ohayocon is out! We're now in Wisconsin and the closest big con is Acen. We've already preregistered (super early bird rates FTW!) and we're waiting for the hotels to make up their minds so we can reserve our room.

What are we wearing? Well, that's changed a bit. Upon meeting Miss ladyutena outside of a convention, we started hatching some evil cosplay plans. ^0^

1. Project Glitter! is a group effort of 7. Nathan isn't involved in this group, so I'm not sure what he's going to wear. Perhaps Moonlight Knight?
2. Super Secret Costume of DOOOOOM! plus Project Kamen for Nathan and super kawaii PJ Chibi Chibi for Rachel.
3. My new Super Moon costume, plus Rachel in Chibi-Usa's S winter uniform and I think Nathan will be rewearing Tuxedo Kamen.

Anyway, Acen is pretty much set in stone, but the costumes are flexible. Project Glitter! is a definite for me and Rachel, but I may hold off on Super Moon and do Lunch from DB and Nathan's secret costume with that. Idunno. We'll see.

OH! I almost forgot! ladyutena and I are planning a big Sailor Moon panel for Acen this year (well, she's in charge. I'm just the tag-along monkey XDD) and we're trying to raise some money for prizes. It's looking possible that we'll be attending Ohayocon 09. I've started 6 different pairings in the time that I haven't attending conventions, and I've had to narrow it down to just the three I'll bring to Ohayocon. At this time it looks something like this:

1. Super Sailor Moon (S anime), a new Tuxedo Kamen, and Chibi Usa's winter uniform (S anime)
2. Lunch (Dragon Ball), and Nathan's costume is a secret on this one (Dragon Ball Z).
3. Super Secret Costumes of DOOOOOOM!! and super kawaii PJ Chibi Chibi (Stars anime)

I've had to postpone the debut of Prisoner Usagi and Prince Demando (because EVERYONE is doing this right now. I don't think I can wait ANOTHER 4 years on this one or I'm going to go mad!), a new classic moon fuku, and another secret costume pairing. I'm not sure when those will ever happen, but as long as nothing traumatic happens, we may be able to attend another convention that year. I'm hoping. Really REALLY hoping.

I hope to see some familiar faces at Ohayocon so I can get a guided tour, since neither Nathan nor I have ever been to this con before. But hey! Meeting new people is also cool! ^_^

Nathan and I were put in a Japanese cosplay magazine!! It's a really old picture back from Otakon '05 and it's a group shot, BUT THAT'S US!!!

Even though I'm retired for now, I still try to keep up with what happens in the cosplay world, specifically Sailor Moon. I help my friends with their cosplay ideas and offer feedback on a regular basis. Other than that, I do pretty well at staying out of all the drama that occurs. Considering how much actually goes on, that's quite an accomplishment. But every now and then, one of my friends will tell me something that's going on that just kinda makes me wanna gag.

How many costumes and outfits are there in the Sailor Moon series?

...What, did you think I was gonna give a number? I'm not THAT obsessed! But seriously, there are only so many. So when someone cosplays an outfit that isn't commonly done, why is it that when someone else cosplays that same outfit, there's all this yelling and screaming about "you copied me! You stole my idea!" and blah blah blah? Likewise, there are only so many ways of doing a certain costume. It just kinda annoys me that people can be so petty. It's cosplay. It's about fun and making friends and displaying the fruits of hard work and craftsmanship. It's not a friggin popularity contest!

If you want to cry foul about copying, at least whine about someone stealing your original idea. As in, a whole different costume based on the series that was 100% you.

It isn't a race about who does what costume first. I'm so sick and tired of Sailor Moon cosplayers having the most drama. Usagi is a character that embodies love, understanding, and friendship. Those who don't understand that really just need to shut up and go away. Come back when you figure out what it's all about, okay?

That being said, I'm here to announce two upcoming costumes for when I return to the cosplay scene.
~ Prisoner Usagi and Prince Demando...manga style.
~ An original Princess Serenity concept cosplay. Not sure what Nathan's gonna wear opposite me at this point. It's still in the works.

AWA was a blast! It turned out that my new fangled way of making the wings work better...actually made things worse! But hey, at least the bow worked well. I got to meet up with one of my friends from last year, Lyuba-chan and we had our own little private photoshoot on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. It was a lot of fun and hopefully, my FTP problem will be resolved soon so I can upload some picturs and change what my cosplay section says!

But alas, good things must come to an end. Cosplay has been a lot of fun, but now I must formally say that I am in retirement for the time being. I have no idea when I may come back, since motherhood is a new experience. I hope to be able to come to a con someday with Rachel Elizabeth (yes! It's a girl!) in a Chibi-Usa cosplay to match me and Nathan. If I can go to a con while she's still small, I may even go for the Chibi Chibi in green bunny pjs that make the whole world squee and melt.

Ha ha!! I finally figured it out! (thank you Stephie!!)

Otakon was great. My husband and I got to cosplay with Outer Power Inner Beauty as their Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Kamen. It was loads of fun! I have lots of pictures but I'm gonna have to wait until later to post them. Not sure how to do that yet.

But my next convention (and probably last for a while) is Anime Weekend Atlanta (AWA). Neo Queen Serenity needs some changes before that con. I've learned how to make my wings more manageable and that must be changed. The down side, is that we want to go to the ball this year, but wings aren't allowed so I have to make the big bow from the manga. Ugh. But the fabric I used before for the wings and tails is nowhere to be found. That makes Bethie very sad. It was so sparkly and pretty. *sniff sniff* So I'm going to have to replace that fabric with pink casa sheer.

The bow's made, the tails are ready to attach, and the wings are cut out. I just need to take the tails off the dress, add the new ones, and make a better method of keeping the wings in the dress but yet still make them interchangeable with the bow, since I prefer to have the wings, anyway.

But how I'm going to do it is gonna be a secret.
